Introduction

The Summary Care Record (SCR) is a national database that stores electronic records of patient information, including medications and allergies. Patients have the option to opt in or out of having an SCR.

Ardens Manager enables GP practices, PCNs, and ICBs to monitor the SCR status of patients across their organisations. The Records dashboard helps you identify which patients have opted out and take action for those with no recorded status.

Please note: Additional information and resources are available on the NHS England Digital website. To view their guide, visit Summary Care Record - NHS England Digital.

Access the Dashboard

Select the Services icon and click on Records.

To view the SCR information about your patients, click on the Sharing tab.

This page includes reports to identify which patients have consented to sharing the Core SCR  and the Additional Information SCR.

Core SCR: includes basic health information such as medication, allergies and adverse reactions.

Additional Information SCR: additional information beyond the core, including consultation data.

To view each report, click on View.

Look for trends in patients who have dissented to sharing their record with the Demographics tab.

Action the Patient List

Patients have the right to opt out of sharing their Summary Care Record. However, this decision may have been made some time ago, and many patients may find they could benefit from sharing their record if there have been significant changes in their health.

You may wish to contact patients who have opted out of SCR sharing, providing them with up-to-date information to understand the benefits of sharing their record, or the risks associated with not sharing, to give them the opportunity to reconsider changing their sharing status.

To contact the patients who have 'expressed Dissent', open the report breakdown by click on View

Click on the Patients tab to access the patient list. You can now use the Export function at the bottom of the NHS numbers.

You can export the patient list out of Ardens Manager using the Export function at the bottom of the NHS numbers. Select the second option for your Clinical System. You can then import this list into your clinical system to carry out the work.

For more information on how to import patient lists to your clinical system, access this support article.
